Schnell, schnell, say BMW engineers
Lighter, faster, sportier – the new M5 CS from BMW injects a jolt of energy to the German carmaker’s output. Made in limited numbers and due for release this spring, the striking sedan has a 4.4 litre, twin turbo V8 engine that enables it to go from 1-100kmh in 3 seconds, with a top speed of 305kmh. All that speed needs good brakes and the new M5 has carbon ceramic ones.
Driving modes include road, sport and – hold on tight – track, where the carbon fibre bonnet, roof and front spoiler can really fly. Seventy kilograms lighter than BMW’s M5 Competition, the new model has bucket seats in the rear to reinforce the idea that this is a serious sports car.
Packed with 625bhp (that’s 10bhp more than the M5 Competition), this BMW also has a sports exhaust system that can be shushed with the push of a button so you don’t disturb the neighbours.
Inside is plush thanks to merino leather seats, snazzy red stitching, a steering wheel covered in alcantara and carbon fibre paddle shifters. Outside, the lines of the M5 CS are aggressive with gold/bronze accents stretching all the way to BMW’s trademark kidney grilles. Such power and style comes with a price tag approaching AED 700,000.
